Coastal Carolina EDGE Deamontae Diggs commits to Florida State
Coastal Carolina transfer edge rusher Deamontae Diggs committed to Florida State on Friday, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett. The 6-5, 260 edge rusher totaled 34 tackles, five sacks, and two passes defended. He’ll have one year of eligibility remaining.
While other schools have been trying to get in the mix, FSU got Diggs on campus this week, and he committed after wrapping up his trip on Friday.
This is Florida State’s third defensive end commitment in this transfer class, joining previous additions Deante McCray and James Williams. Diggs gives new Florida State defensive line coach Terrance Knighton another experienced pass-rusher for the 2025 season.
McCray transferred to FSU from Western Kentucky, while Williams followed Knighton from Nebraska.
Earlier on Friday, Florida State signed North Carolina LB transfer Caleb LaVallee.
In 2023, Diggs played as a redshirt junior for Youngstown State. He played in all 13 games on the defensive line. He tallied 11 tackles, five solo stops, and four sacks. Diggs racked up two sacks against Missouri State. In 2022 for the Penguins, he played in all 10 games, tallying 15 tackles, four tackles for loss, and two sacks. As a freshman for Youngstown State, he didn’t see any game action.
