Barstool Sports’ Dan “Big Cat” Katz is high on Deion Sanders and it could be Florida State’s “magic bullet” to replace Mike Norvell.
When joining Andy and Ari On3, Big Cat was asked about a few teams in a “reverse Jim Harbaugh, who’s got it worse than us” segment. While he put Oklahoma and Auburn at the bottom, he said Florida State was not in good shape.
But, if they want to blow it up, restart and zoom towards the top, maybe the brinks truck can be backed up for Sanders.
“Florida State’s in a lot of trouble too, because Mike Norvell,” Big Cat said. “Okay, so I’ll put, I think, Auburn might be, Auburn’s probably second to last. Oklahoma’s last. Auburn second to last, because they’re in a lot of trouble. And the same problem with the SEC, Florida State, not in the SEC. And I know that people will say I’m biased here, but doesn’t it feel like Florida State has the magic bullet if they need it and it’s to just get Deion Sanders?”
“Colorado is a lot better than people think this year. Travis Hunter, I should legally say should be Heisman. I know that he’s got to get a couple more stats going, but I do have a 40-1 ticket on him, so I say it on every show I go on. But I feel like you have that just hanging out there. And I don’t know if Deion would want to go to Florida State. I know there was probably some some bad feelings last time around, when they were had an opening. I don’t know what he’s going to do when Shedeur leaves, all this stuff, but at least you have the hope of, ‘Oh, that guy could maybe fix it and bring us to the modern era.’ Whereas, Auburn doesn’t feel that way, Oklahoma really doesn’t feel that way.”

It seemed Norvell finally peaked last season, leading Florida State to a 13-1 record, an ACC title and an Orange Bowl appearance. Of course, there was controversy about them missing the CFP after QB Jordan Travis was injured.
Since then, Norvell has dipped while Sanders rose. Norvell is 1-6 this season and 32-23 overall since 2020 at Florida State.
Sanders is 9-10 at Colorado, but 5-2 this season and firmly in the thick of the Big 12 race. Sanders’ success is no secret after he went 27-6 at Jackson State in three seasons.
Once Shedeur Sanders, Shilo and Travis Hunter leave after the year, what is Deion Sanders’ future? Is it to keep building Colorado or can Florida State sway him to return to his alma mater?
It might just be speculation from Big Cat, but it’s an intriguing conversation.
