Darrell Jackson Jr. shares importance of representing Gadsden County at Florida State
Darrell Jackson feels like it’s important for him to represent Gadsden County well while he’s at Florida State.
A transfer from Maryland to Miami and now Miami to Florida State, Jackson is home now. Tallahassee is in Gadsden County, where he went to high school. Now, he wants to show off his local pride.
“It means a lot,” Darrell Jackson said.
“Help kids in my community, them looking up toward me, letting them know that if I did that, they can do it. Really just motivation to them, to be honest. They have it for me and I’m just happy to give back to my community.”
In his first two seasons at the college level, Jackson played in 20 games. During that time, he has made 49 tackles, 4.5 of which were for a loss, and he had three sacks.
Darrell Jackson played high school football at Gadsden County (Florida), where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 736 overall recruit in the 2021 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Darrell Jackson on reuniting with Adam Fuller
Darrell Jackson is excited about reuniting with defensive coordinator Adam Fuller now that he’s at Florida State.
“It’s been smiles all around. Every time I see him I, man, I give him a big hug, smiling. Tell him I’m thankful for everything he’s done for me,” Jackson said.
“Thankful for everything he’s done for me and what he did for me in high school and how we got to this point. He stayed on me. So, every time I just give him a big hug and smile.”
Jackson on getting eligible
Darrell Jackson is at his third school in as many years. Because of that, getting eligible isn’t going to be easy to do. However, Jackson was unwilling to set a timeline for when he’ll be eligible.
“It’s a process,” Darrell Jackson said. “Everything going through, it’s a process.”
