Late in the second half of Friday’s game between Florida State and Florida, two Seminoles players were ejected following a Flagrant 2 foul. De’Ante Green got tossed after committing the foul, and Cam’Ron Fletcher was also ejected for leaving the bench and going onto the court.

Green to try and save a ball from heading out of bounds when he jumped on the back of Florida’s Zyon Pullin, who appeared to be boxing out to try and keep Green from getting the ball. In the aftermath, Fletcher ended up getting off the bench and entering the field of play without participating — resulting in his ejection, as well.

Florida held the lead for most of the matchup Friday night in Gainesville and held an 82-61 lead over Florida State at the time of the ejections.

Green had six points and two rebounds off the bench prior to his ejection while Fletcher had nine points and four rebounds, as well. Friday’s game marked Florida State’s first loss of the season after victories over Kennesaw State and Central Michigan to start the year.

As for Florida, the Gators improved to 3-1 with the win, led by 19 points from Walter Clayton and 15 points from Tyrese Samuel. The Gators, in the second year of the Todd Golden era, have only suffered a three-point loss to Virginia to start the year.

Hot start leads Florida to victory over Florida State

All in all, it was quite the performance from UF, which shot 51.7% from the field and 38.9% from three. On defense, the Gators held Florida State to just 36.4% shooting, including just 2-for-13 from downtown to get a second consecutive victory over their in-state rivals.

The spark, according to Golden, was a hot start. Florida came out of the gates with a 19-1 run and a 30-point halftime lead as they never looked back.

“I’ve been waiting for a half like this all year,” Golden said during his radio interview at halftime, via Gators Online’s Zach Abolverdi. “We just haven’t been able to bust the top off and that first half is a great example of what this team can be.”

Next up for the Gators is a matchup against Pitt Nov. 22 in Gainesville as they look to continue their good start to the year. As for Florida State, the Seminoles will return home to take on UNLV on Monday to try and bounce back.
