Florida State wide receiver Keon Coleman — who transferred south from Michigan State ahead of 2023 — has likely made himself a lot of money during this season so far. Heading into Week 9, he’s tentatively slotted in as the No. 2 wide receiver in the 2024 NFL Draft class for at least one ESPN analyst.

That would be ESPN draft analyst Jordan Reid, who discussed Coleman, his potential fit with the Indianapolis Colts — Coleman was placed there in an ESPN mock draft — and more with fellow draft analyst Matt Miller and host Field Yates. Long story short, Reid loves the idea of Coleman landing in Indianapolis.

This is probably my favorite fit of any in the mock draft because it just makes so much sense. Just give Anthony Richardson that guy that can go up and get the ball and let’s build this basketball team on the perimeter. You have Alec Pierce, as well, a player who I’m very high on who we didn’t even mention. Now you add Keon Coleman into the mix, I just think it’s such a great fit,” Reid said.

Reid’s reason for confidence in the potential pairing is how Coleman can be something of a security blanket for Richardson.

“Because going back to last year, Keon Coleman has the most contested catches of anybody in the FBS with 10. And he’s not just a contested catch guy, he can get open, he can separate. You see the explosion after the catch, everybody saw the LSU game and saw how he performed against Clemson. That was another game he was exceptional. And he’s just hitting his stride right now. So give Anthony Richardson some more security on the perimeter. I’m a big fan of Keon Coleman. He’s my wide receiver No. 2 right now behind Marvin Harrison Jr.,” Reid said.

Miller concurred on the love for Coleman.

He thinks Coleman could fill a similar role for current Colts head coach Shane Steichen that AJ Brown fulfilled for Steichen when he was the offensive coordinator for the Eagles.

“That’s who Keon Coleman would be in that offense. Just physical, man, and so powerful. Like you said, hitting his stride. He’s a transfer from Michigan State. He’s still probably learning the names of all the coaches and he’s dominating like this. 6-foot-4 and you think this big, powerful dude and he is, but he’s also their punt returner which shows his explosiveness and wiggle in space. I’m with you, I’m a huge Keon Coleman fan and it just seems like every week he is ascending as a player,” Miller said.
