The Florida State Seminoles wasted no time in their ACC matchup against Boston College getting on the board. The Seminoles took the opening kickoff and returned it for the first score of the game.

Boston College won the coin toss to start the game and elected to defer, which now looks like a mistake on the team’s behalf. Florida State offseason transfer portal acquisition running back Trey Benson received the kick at the 7-yard line and shot straight upfield. He bounced the run to the left sideline breaking a few tackles in the process. Once Benson gets to the outside, the race to the end zone is on. One tackler attempts to trip Benson up, but he’s able to high-step over the defenders’ arms and keeps running. And to finish off the impressive kickoff return, he delivers a stiff arm to the last Boston College defender as he makes his way into the end zone for six.

Since then, Florida State has added on another two touchdowns and currently leads Boston College 21-0 midway through the first quarter.

MTSU head coach Rick Stockstill gives Florida State a shoutout after Miami upset

Whenever upsets occur in college football, the only people happier than the team getting the win are rival fans of the losing squad. On Saturday, it was Middle Tennessee State upsetting Miami to much of the amusement of Florida State. In fact, Rick Stockstill made sure the Seminoles got some recognition.

After the game, Stockstill gave a shoutout to Florida State, saying he knows they are “pretty excited” about the result in Tallahassee. He’s not wrong, especially since Mike Norvell got a win of his own on Saturday and is currently 4-0. Miami is now down to 2-2 in the first head of Mario Cristobal.

“I know Tallahassee, I know they’re pretty excited about the mighty Blue Raiders kicking these Hurricanes’ tails because we kicked their tails and I ain’t afraid to say it,” Stockstill said.
