Travis Hunter 1200x630

Suwanee (Ga.) Collins Hill athlete Travis Hunter has missed most of his senior season with an ankle injury. But he showed Friday night why he’s the country’s most prized 2022 recruit.

In Collins Hill’s playoff semifinal game against Grayson on Friday night, Hunter showed off his leaping ability and elite hands with an impressive touchdown catch. With quarterback Sam Horn rolling to his left, Hunter sprinted to the back corner of the end zone and caught a slightly overthrown ball, dotted his toe in the end zone and pulled in a score.

Hunter is the No. 1 prospect in the 2022 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

In his return to action last week, Hunter finished the game with 113 yards and two touchdowns on nine catches, in addition to the interception.

Travis Hunter remains locked in with Florida State

Earlier this season, Hunter was the subject of heavy speculation given Florida State’s struggles and head coach Mike Norvell’s uncertain job security. Hunter visited Georgia twice in October. And Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart flew in a helicopter to watch his team play, even though Hunter has been sidelined by an ankle injury. Despite the overtures, Hunter has repeatedly said he’s committed to FSU.

He told ClemsonSports’ Joseph Hastings that things aren’t serious between him and the ‘Dawgs, though.

“I’m pretty much locked in with Florida State right now. My mind ain’t changing a little bit,” Travis Hunter said. “I’m not really keeping in touch with Georgia. I just went up there to watch a game, really. I let them do their job. Last I spoke with them was probably two weeks ago. I pretty much don’t talk with them like that.”

Hunter posted a tweet before his visit to Georgia that read: “I’m a Nole Nothing More Nothing Less I’m Not Decommitting Stop That Rumor Go Noles.”
