5-star Florida State commit Travis Hunter leaves game in ambulance
One of the top 2022 prospects in the country, Suwanee (Ga.) Collins Hill athlete Travis Hunter, left the Eagles’ game Friday night with an apparent leg injury.
Hunter tweeted out a photo from the back of the ambulance with the caption: “I’m gone be ok say a quick prayer for me.”
Hunter’s head coach, Lenny Gregory, told the Gwinnett Daily Post following the game that his star player did not need surgery.
“We don’t think it’s a season-ending thing,” Gregory told the Gwinnett Daily Post. “We’re praying for good news obviously and I think, from everything we’re hearing, he’s going to be just fine.”
A Florida State commit, Hunter is the No. 2 overall player in the 2022 On300 rankings and is considered the crown jewel of the Seminoles’ recruiting class. FSU has started the 2021 season 0-4, but Hunter has remained firm on his pledge to the Noles.
“I’m committed,” Hunter told On3 earlier this fall. “I’m staying committed.”
Through Collins Hill’s first five games of the 2021 season, Hunter amassed 43 catches for 673 yards and five touchdowns on offense. He also has 16 tackles and two interceptions, one of which went for a touchdown, on defense.

Here’s what On3’s Director of Scouting Charles Power had to say on Travis Hunter’s start to his senior season.
“Travis Hunter is the most impactful non-quarterback in high school football,” Power said. “He has truly elite ball skills with a huge catch radius. Hunter makes use of that ability as a receiver and defensive back. In watching a bunch of his games over the past year, it’s a question of when, not if Hunter makes a huge play. The competitiveness and stamina to never come off the field is also very impressive. He took a big shot to his lower body on one catch and run but stayed on the field and was a lead blocker on a touchdown the very next play.”
Power continued.
“Hunter is a rare prospect in that he is a legitimate five-star on either side of the ball at wide receiver and cornerback,” he said. “The production on Friday nights is off the charts. He had over 1,700 receiving yards and 24 touchdowns to go with eight interceptions in 2020. He might out-do himself this year if the first game is any indication.”
