Jacksonville Mandarin four-star quarterback and Florida State commit Tramell Jones considered scheduling an official visit to Florida. He told Gators Online that if he had, it would have been the weekend of June 14.

That official visit never happened. Now, the Florida State commit has shut down his recruitment.

“I would like to thank God for putting me in this situation and for everyone that recruited me throughout this process,” Jones wrote on social media. “With that, I will be shutting down my recruitment!”

The 6-foot-0, 195-pound Jones pledged to the Seminoles over a year ago and has remained a staple of FSU’s seven-man class.

Tramell Jones participated at Elite 11 Finals

Jones earned an invite to the Elite 11 Finals in Los Angeles this month. He finished No. 9 overall in the event, per On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power. Jones was also awarded the superlative of ‘Smoothest Release’.

“Tramell Jones showcased one of the tightest releases at the Elite 11 Finals,” Power wrote. “The Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin signal-caller has a clean stroke and got the ball out of his hand as quickly as any quarterback in attendance. Jones was a Top Performer on each day. His skill set as a mechanically sound pocket passer is well suited for the setting. He was precise on each day, concluding by being on target on 15 of 18 passes for three touchdowns and two interceptions in 7-on-7 on Thursday.”

Before the event, Jones spoke with On3’s Chad Simmons about his commitment to Florida State.

“The tradition. Tradition and the coaching staff. Coach Norvell, Coach Tokarz are the realest coaches I know,” Jones said. “The relationship we have together, I think is the best relationship I have with any coach on any kind of level. They’ve been on me since I was a freshman, then keeping that communication. The development at quarterback also.”
