Florida State benches Brock Glenn, turns to Luke Kromenhoek
After three turnovers on as many plays against Duke on Friday, Florida State made a change at quarterback. Freshman Luke Kromenhoek came in to replace Brock Glenn in the second quarter.
Kromenhoek entered the game with 9:51 to play, shortly after Duke kicked a field goal to make it a 17-3 lead. He remained at quarterback the rest of the half, notably leading a field goal drive to make it a 17-6 Blue Devils lead with 1:46 to go before halftime. He later returned with just over five minutes to play in the third quarter.
At the time of his departure, Glenn was 3-for-10 for 37 yards with two interceptions, along with the lost fumble. Kromenhoek finished the first half 2-for-5 for 12 yards in his first game action of the season.
Kromenhoek arrived on campus this year as a key piece of Florida State’s recruiting class. The Savannah (Ga.) Benedictine Military School product was a four-star prospect and the No. 45 overall player from the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Florida State has now turned to its third quarterback of the season amid a 1-5 start to the year. DJ Uiagalelei came in as a highly rated transfer from Oregon State, but underwent surgery on his hand and is now on the sidelines. That meant Glenn came in as the starter, and he threw for 228 yards and two touchdowns on 23 of 41 passing last time out against Clemson before FSU’s bye week.
Mike Norvell previously praised the way Kromenhoek and Glenn carried themselves in practice following Uiagalelei’s injury. He said their preparation stood out and they’d be ready if their name was called to jump into game action.
“I’ve been really pleased how both of those guys have prepared each and every week leading up because you never know when that opportunity is going to present itself,” Norvell said. “Obviously, the door is open now and I’m excited to see them go through it.”
