Florida State cornerback Charles Lester was arrested on a DUI charge in the Sunshine State, according to a police report.

Lester was arrested Monday and eventually released. No further information on the incident is available at this time.

Lester played in two games for the Seminoles this past season, recoding three tackles and one pass deflection.

As a member of the Class of 2024, Lester was a four-star recruit out of Venice (Fla.) High, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 10 overall prospect in the state, the No. 8 cornerback in the class and the No. 53 overall prospect in the class.

The young defensive back enrolled early at Florida State following the 2023 season.

“It would give me a head start and a sneak peek of how it will be for a big game when I get here,” Lester said in November of 2023. “So being able to practice with the team and being around the guys, being able to see how they operate, function around big games, going to a big situation that they are going to be in … just get me more comfortable around the team. Get the feel for myself before next year. It’s my time.”

It remains to be seen what’s next for Lester following the arrest. But there’s no doubt on the field, he and the team had a mutual excitement for his potential.

“Being able to run around in practice and see the different types of drills … that was a blessing,” Lester said last February. “Next time I go on a practice field, I will know and be prepared for what’s going to come at me in practice.”

Florida State is coming off a disappointing 2-10 season following an ACC title in 2023. Head coach Mike Norvell will likely look for a quick rebuild going into the 2025 season.
