The Florida State Seminoles and the South Florida Bulls were in a wild contest on Wednesday evening that lasted 13 innings. It what was an only fitting finish for a marathon of a baseball game, the Seminoles finished the game off in dramatic fashion, with some assistance from the Gators’ outfielders. Trailing 6-5 with two outs in the bottom of the 13th inning, Florida State’s Nander De Sedas hit a pop fly to center field. With base runners on first and third, the ‘Noles had to hope the Bulls’ shortstop dropped the ball. They got their wish. And the dropped ball meant that De Sedas’ double ended up plating two more runs, lifting the ‘Noles to a heart-stopping 7-6 victory.
Watch the chaos unfold below.
It was a wild and dramatic finish to a marathon of a game. It was only fitting for a game between two bitter in-state rivals. The win was the third career walk-off hit for De Sadas at Florida State. He also had an RBI double vs. North Florida as a freshman and a two-run home run vs. North Carolina in 2021.
The Seminoles jumped out to an early 3-0 lead on the Bulls in the first inning, but South Florida would battle back to tie the game up in the sixth inning and again in the eighth inning.
