Florida State defensive lineman Quashon Fuller enters NCAA transfer portal

Following spring practices, Florida State defensive end Quashon Fuller has entered the NCAA transfer portal, according to On3’s Matt Zenitz.
Florida State athletics personnel confirmed to 247Sports’ Brendan Sonnone on Friday that Fuller was no longer on the team after they removed his name from the online roster. Now, he’s in the transfer portal and looking for a new home after three years in Tallahassee.
The 6-foot-3, 266-pound defensive end played in 11 games in 2021, recording eight tackles, including three for loss with one sack. He redshirted his first year on campus in 2019 before appearing in four games in 2020.
The redshirt sophomore from Fort Meyers, Florida, has three years of eligibility remaining. He will be immediately eligible to play next season at his program of choice. He was a four-star prospect coming out of Lehigh Senior High and chose FSU over a dozen other offers including Alabama, Florida, and Auburn. Fuller was the No. 198 player in the nation, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Fuller joins overflowing transfer portal
The NCAA Transfer Portal, which covers every NCAA sport at the Division I, II and III levels, is a private database with names of student-athletes who wish to transfer. It is not accessible to the public.
The process of entering the portal goes through a school’s compliance office. Once a player provides written notification of an intent to transfer, the office enters the player’s name in the database. The compliance office has 48 hours to comply with the player’s request.
Once a player’s name shows up in the portal, other schools can contact the player. Players can change their minds at any point and withdraw from the portal. However, once a player enters the portal, the current scholarship is no longer valid. In other words, if a player enters the portal but decides to stay, the school does not have to reoffer a scholarship.
