Florida State EDGE DD Holmes enters NCAA transfer portal
Florida State EDGE DD Holmes has entered the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned.
Holmes recorded stats in one game for the Seminoles in 2024, a single tackle against Charleston Southern on Nov. 23.
Holmes was a four-star recruit in the 2024 class, according to the On3 Industry Rankings, which is a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services. He was the No. 286 player overall and No. 33 EDGE in his cycle. He chose the Seminoles over the likes of Maryland, among others.
During his recruitment, Holmes talked about what made him choose FSU out of high school.
“I had a great time,” Holmes said of his official visit during his recruitment. “… just spending time with the coaches and current players, recruits and a couple commits. It was a great time meeting them and spending 48 hours with them. … [Coach Mike Norvell] just brings non-stop energy, and I love that.”
One season in Tallahassee, and the coveted EDGE prospect is now on his way out of the program and set to find a new home for the fall. He did preserve his redshirt, so he should have four years of eligibility remaining to play for his new program.
The portal officially opened on Monday, Dec. 9, 2024. More than 2,800 FBS scholarship players entered their names into the NCAA’s transfer database during the 2023-24 school year. Removing those who withdrew or went pro, the final total sat at 2,707 transfers.

Jenkins officially entered the transfer portal Thursday after announcing his plans to do so earlier this week. He spent three years with the Volunteers and appeared in all 13 games this past season before hitting the open market.
On3’s Nick Schultz contributed to this report.
