Florida State EDGE Marvin Jones Jr. enters NCAA transfer portal
Florida State EDGE Marvin Jones Jr. entered the NCAA transfer portal, according to On3’s Pete Nakos.
Jones spent just one season at Florida State after two years at Georgia. He’ll now look for the third school of his career.
Jones set career highs this season in 11 games. He finished with 25 tackles, six tackles for loss, four sacks and one forced fumble. In total, he has 41 total tackles, 12 tackles for loss, six sacks, one fumble recovery and two forced fumbles.
As a member of the Class of 2022, Jones Jr. was a five-star recruit out of Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) American Heritage, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 4 overall prospect in the state, the No. 4 EDGE in the class and the No. 20 overall prospect in the class.

“Awful season,” Norvell said. “That’s the best way I can put it. Very disappointing that we performed the way we did. A lot of circumstances that have shown up. Our fair share of adversity and some things that were outside of our control. Some things that we did control. We had a lot of young players that got opportunities and had to kind of get thrown into it before maybe their time.
“But with each of those reps they got, it’s an opportunity to grow, opportunity to build upon it. Just like I told the team there in the locker room, this is getting fixed. It’s going to be an immediate, fast fix.”
Florida State came into the season ranked 10th in the country by the AP Poll. However, things quickly went sideways for the Seminoles and Mike Norvell wasn’t able to turn things around. That 2-10 finish ended up being the worst since 1974 when the Seminoles were 1-11.
