Expectations are high for Florida State in 2023. At the same time, nothing is guaranteed, and falling short of those expectations would feel like a massive disappointment.

As On3’s JD PicKell explained on The Hard Count, after years of struggling to rebuild, Florida State fans want to know, if not this season, then when will they finally meet those expectations?

“They’ve earned the right for those [ACC Title and College Football Playoff appearance] to be goals for them,” PicKell said. “It’s one thing to just shoot for the stars and talk about making a College Football Playoff and playing for a national title when you’re missing bowl games.”

“It’s a whole other conversation when you have the number one returning production in the country and you won a whole lot of ball games the year before and you’ve got your quarterback back. Like, that’s a different conversation,” PicKell said.

“So, for Florida State, this is the year.”

Florida State’s 2023 season starts with an excellent challenge, as the Seminoles will meet a talented LSU team in Orlando. That game will likely set the tone for the rest of the season. Then, at the end of September, a trip to Clemson is going to challenge the Seminoles to get over the hump in ACC play.

With tons of experience and talent, if not 2023 then when for Florida State?

Florida State has a lot of high potential wide receivers

One of the reasons why people are excited about Florida State is the team’s skill position talent. Head coach Mike Norvell is excited about that talent too and has explained that he sees a lot of potential in the team’s wide receiver room.

“I mean, I think that’s an exciting group to see. We’ve had, I think we’ve got, you know, high potential, with guys that are within our team. You know, that are diversity of skill set. You have some guys that are showing some great flashes, of what they can do. I think we’ve got a really, really talented group, and I think when you look at the newcomers that will be joining, it’s got a chance to be a very, very explosive, and you know, competitive group,” Norvell said.

“We’ll be able to show a lot of different you know, personnel distributions, and you know, where we’re able to align our guys and we can be, I think we can create some good matchups. So you know, these guys, they know their sense of urgency, and having to go out there and perform when they get the moment to do that, but those guys are working hard in trying to build each other in that process.”
