Florida State star Johnny Wilson expected to play vs. Duke
Florida State will have star receiver Johnny Wilson available for Saturday’s game against Duke, according to ESPN insider Pete Thamel.
Thamel revealed the news Saturday morning on ESPN College GameDay.
Wilson was banged up against Virginia Tech on Oct. 7. He left the game early in the second half with an injury and did not return.
Johnny Wilson also missed last week’s game against Syracuse, which ended up being a 41-3 victory for the Seminoles.
However, he is now good to go and should be a favorite target for quarterback Jordan Travis in the top 20 matchup Saturday night.
Johnny Wilson caught four passes for 54 yards and two touchdowns, prior to going down with the injury against Virginia Tech.
So far this season, Wilson has 20 catches for 357 yards and two touchdowns.
Mike Norvell provides injury update on Jordan Travis
In addition to Johnny Wilson, FSU quarterback Jordan Travis has also been a little bit banged up as of late.
Travis went to the locker room late in the first half of Saturday’s win over Syracuse with what appeared to be a hand or wrist injury. He played the second half, but there was still some concern.
Florida State head coach Mike Norvell provided an update on Travis earlier this week.
“[Jordan Travis] is going to be good to go,” Norvell said. “He had something with his non-throwing hand there in the last game. He’s displayed toughness throughout the season. Playing quarterback can be a daunting task sometimes and Jordan has displayed toughness. He’s played at such a high level doing a great job holding the ball, and then he’s so very productive and what he does.”

Mike Norvell prepares FSU for battle
The Duke defense is sure to make it hard on Johnny Wilson, Jordan Travis and the Florida State offense. The Blue Devils allow just 298.5 yards per game, the 16th-least in the nation. Norvell is excited for the challenge.
“We’re playing a really good football team,” Norvell said after the team’s practice on Tuesday. “Duke has had a great year up to this point. They’re one play away from being undefeated. You see just the mindset of how they play, what they do. It’s impressive.
“Now we get a chance to go and compete here this Saturday night. So very excited for our players. You could feel the energy and just the sense of urgency last night in our practice and our meetings. It’s a team that’s excited to get better. We’re seeing some positive strides in that direction.”
FSU will square off against the Blue Devils at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday. The game will be broadcast on ABC.
