Florida State guard Chandler Jackson plans to enter transfer portal

Florida State guard Chandler Jackson plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned. Jackson spent three seasons with the Seminoles before choosing to test his luck in the portal.
Jackson started in just two of the first 60 games he appeared in with the Seminoles. As a junior, he became a regular fixture in the FSU lineup this past season. Jackson started 27 of the 29 games he appeared in during the 2024-25 season, averaging 6.3 points, 2.1 rebounds and 2.0 assists.
He scored in double figures on five occasions, including a 14-point performance during an 82-64 win against Winthrop on Dec. 17. He would go on to score 13 points in another win over Pitt in January, serving as his two highest-scoring performances of this past season.
A Memphis native, Jackson was a four-star recruiting coming out of high school, according to the On3 Industry Rankings, which is a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services. He was the No. 89 overall player in the 2022 class, and the No. 13 combo guard in his cycle.
Florida State finished this past season with a 17-15 record, including an 8-12 mark against ACC competition. Their season concluded in the first round of the conference tournament earlier this month, losing to Syracuse 66-62.

Jackson enters the portal following the retirement of his head coach for three seasons, Leonard Hamilton. A college basketball trailblazer, his career spans back to the 1970s, and ended during the ACC Tournament this season. Hamilton summed up the most important aspects of his career after the loss.
“I’ve been blessed to have an opportunity that not very many people ever have, to work with young people when they’re at their most vulnerable time – when they’re 17, 18 years old,” Hamilton told ACC Network’s Angel Gray afterward. “Being a part of helping them grow and trying to give them some direction to how they’re having to progress in their lives.
“I’m happy in some ways that I’m going to find another way to contribute and work with youngsters. I have some things in mind I want to do. But I’ve been blessed, and I’ve enjoyed the ride. It’s time to move on to the next chapter.”
