Florida State is 'zero question' in the College Football Playoff with win over Louisville per Desmond Howard

The biggest complaint for many regarding the College Football Playoff at the moment is, even without their starting quarterback, that Florida State would make it in if they were to win the ACC Championship. Still, regardless if they’re still one of the four best teams or not now, Desmond Howard thinks it’s only fair that the Seminoles make it in.

Howard made the case for Florida State to make the cut during an appearance on ‘Get Up’ on Friday. Assuming they claim their conference championship over Louisville on Saturday, he says the only right thing would be to reward the ‘Noles with a berth in the playoff.

Zero question in my mind,” said Howard.

“As a player, you have to give these guys what they’ve earned at that point. If they’ve been able to run the table and they’re conference champions? I don’t care if they don’t have their best player or not,” Howard said. “We’ve seen the same scenario with Ohio State when they lost their quarterback. So I do believe, if they run the table, they deserve to be one of the top-four teams in the College Football Playoff.”

There wasn’t a question about the legitimacy of Florida State with Jordan Travis still in the fold. They reached the mark of 10-0, including wins over LSU and Clemson. That had clinched them a spot in the ACC title game. It also placed them at No. 4 in the playoff rankings where they have remained for some time.

Then, in their game against North Alabama, the disaster struck. They lost Travis, their starter and leader, for the year to a brutal injury against the Lions.

Since then, even after their win over Florida to clinch an undefeated regular season last weekend, many have attempted to discredit everything that the Seminoles have accomplished. They’ve done so in order to justify a spot for ‘better’ contenders like Oregon, Texas, Alabama, or Ohio State.

However, the fact of the matter is that Florida State has played a dozen games and earned a dozen wins. Only four other teams have managed to do that all year. That includes the three teams above them in the playoff rankings.

As we split hairs between all the teams, it’s fair to question and thoroughly evaluate the Seminoles. To try and remove them from the conversation altogether, though, is wrong in Howard’s eyes. That’s why he’s campaigning for FSU at 13-0 to make it into the College Football Playoff.
