LOOK: Florida State lands transfer commitment from UCF guard Darin Green

UCF guard Darin Green will transfer to Florida State for next season, he announced Monday via Twitter. A native of Tampa Bay, the 6-foot-5 shooting guard will remain in his home state for his fourth collegiate season.
A three-year starter for the Knights, Green averaged double figures in scoring every season. In 2021-22, he set a new career high with 13.3 points per game in addition to 1.6 assists across 30.9 minutes while earning third team All-AAC honors. He has proven himself as an outside shooter, hitting 38.8% of his 3-pointers across his career.
Green finished his high school career in 2019 as the all-time leading scorer at Wharton High (FL), but was not highly recruited. He committed to UCF over offers from a host of mid majors including South Florida, Murray State, Florida Gulf Coast and others.
Darin Green ranked as the sixth best shooting guard in the transfer portal, according to Jamie Shaw — On3’s National Recruiting Analyst. On3’s Consensus Transfer Portal Rankings list him as the No. 39 shooting guard.

“I selected FSU because I feel like it’s the best place to help me reach my academic and athletic goals,” Green said according to On3’s Joe Tipton. “I’ll have a chance to play basketball under legendary coach Leonard Hamilton while completing my studies in Business. The family atmosphere that has been created here at FSU Basketball is unique and I wanted to be part of this family.”
Green is the second transfer commitment for the Seminoles this offseason, as they also brought in Jaylan Gainey, a 6-foot-9 center who played the past three seasons at Brown. Aside from the transfers, there will be plenty of new faces in Tallahassee next season. FSU also welcomes five incoming freshmen: four-star CG Chandler Jackson, four-star C Cameron Corhen, three-star PF De’Ante Green, three-star SF Tom House, and three-star PG Jeremiah Bembry.
