Florida State LB Justin Cryer carted off after gruesome injury
The Florida State Seminoles suffered a serious injury on Saturday evening against the North Carolina Tar Heels. Linebacker Justin Cryer was carted off the field after suffered what appeared to be a very serious injury to his right leg. FSU trainers and medical staff were placing a compression cast on his right leg. The medical staff was also massaging the lower part of his right leg close to his right ankle, according to the sideline reporter on the ACC Network television broadcast.
Before he was carted off, his Florida State teammates rallied around Cryer before he left the field.
It was an emotional moment for the Florida State roster and their young linebacker. This season, he’s racked up 29 total tackles and two tackles for loss.
FSU was blown out on Saturday by UNC, 35-11, as running back Omarion Hampton finished with five touchdowns and 253 all-purpose yards.
In 2023, Cryer appeared in 13 games, tallying 12 tackles for the Seminoles.
Saturday’s injury wasn’t the only injury suffered in 2024 by Cryer. He was also injured in their game against Memphis.

Justin Cryer was also injured in the Memphis game
Florida State linebackers Justin Cryer and Cam Riley both had to be helped off the field during their against the Memphis Tigers.
Cryer was seemingly nursing an injury to his left arm, leaving the after making a tackle earlier in a Memphis offensive series, while Riley went down and was helped off by trainers after making a stop on fourth down. It was less apparent what Riley’s injury was.
“Couple injury updates for Florida State,” the broadcast shared, following the injuries. “Justin Cryer was on the bench, moving both of his arms and his legs, but the bad news is that off-camera Cam Riley went into the locker room, having to be assisted by two Florida State trainers getting in there.”
Things won’t get any easier for Florida State (1-8 overall, 1-7 in the ACC), as they face Notre Dame next. That one will be on the road, Saturday, November 9th. It’s set to be televised on NBC at 7:30 PM EST.
