Kalen DeLoach reveals hilarious story about playing basketball against brother
Florida State linebacker Kalen DeLoach will have some free time before their trip to Orlando, Florida for the Cheez-It Bowl on December 29. During that time, the Georgia native will spend some time at home, which he mentioned will include watching his younger brother’s basketball game.
“Growing up we always played three sports, my brother, we did basketball, track, and football,” DeLoach said. “He was more of a basketball player so he ain’t really care about football, so we used to always go to the basketball gym.”
The DeLoach brother’s paths and sports journey’s may have gone in different directions, but that didn’t stop them from bettering each other while growing up, as Kalen did is best to help his brother with his basketball game and vise versa when he used to play a different position.
“I’m out there trying to pass him the ball, make sure he got the shot right, and then he’s out there throwing the ball to me making sure I could catch the ball, I used to play receiver,” DeLoach said.
DeLoach was also asked if he ever plays his brother one on one in basketball, which he quickly responded to.
“I ain’t played him since he grew, 6’9, ever since then I said nah,” DeLoach laughed and said.
His little brother’s growth spurt may give him the height advantage on the hard wood, but DeLoach has been playing big all season for the Seminoles between the white lines. DeLoach and the Seminoles can be seen in their season finale on December 29 when they take on Oklahoma in the Cheez-It Bowl airing on ESPN at 5:30 p.m. ET.
Kalen DeLoach sums up what winning 10 games means to the program
The last time the Seminoles achieved 10 wins was at the end of a five-year run of 10-plus win seasons led by head coach Jimbo Fisher. If history repeats itself, than maybe a win over Oklahoma in the Cheez-It Bowl could jumpstart the Seminoles back to their winning ways of the past.

Seminoles’ linebacker Kalen DeLoach gave his thoughts on Florida State’s potentially historic season.
“We want that tenth win real bad, that’s part of the reason why we come out here and work the way we do. We want to be able to change the sign they’ve got in the locker room to another win, another 10-win season. So I feel like we’ve got the mindset that we gotta come out here and work and we need that 10-win season, it’s gonna help us a lot,” DeLoach said.
DeLoach ranks third on the team in tackles with 55 this season, adding three sacks, and a team-leading seven pass breakups to his stat line from his linebacker spot. He’s been a key to the Seminoles’ success this season, but attributes their overall success and being on the brink of 10 wins to the difference in buy-in.
“Like you said, everyone just wants to play for each other, the buy-in is for each other so if I do something it’s going to be for the man that’s next to me or the man behind me,” DeLoach explained. “I want to be the best me for the team, if I bring the best me that means everybody can bring the best them, and then we’re gonna be the best us.”
Florida State has surely been the best version of themselves this season compared to others in recent history, as they’ll look to reach that 10-win mark on December 29 in Orlando, Florida.
