Florida State offers UCF transfer Marcellus Marshall
On Friday, UCF transfer offensive lineman Marcellus Marshall announced he’d received an offer from Florida State. Marshall entered the transfer portal on Monday and released a statement on his decision.
“First, I want to thank God for the countless blessings and opportunities He has brought into my life,” Marshall wrote. “I am also grateful for my entire support system for their love and support throughout my journey.
“To UCF and Knight Nation: Thank you for the memories, relationships, and opportunities you have given me over the past two years. Thank you, Coach Malzahn for the opportunity to play and lead at this team. Coach Hand thank you for all that you have done for me and the life lessons you have taught me. To my teammates and the staff, thank you for making this program feel like family.
“With that being said, after much prayer and reflection, I am announcing my decision to enter the transfer portal with 1 year of eligibility remaining. My recruitment is 100% open, and I’m excited to see what God has in store for me in this next step of life. Thank you all for the continued support.”
Marcellus Marshall originally committed to Kent State out of high school but transferred to UCF ahead of the 2023 campaign where he has stayed ever since. His decision comes after former head coach Gus Malzahn was named the next Florida State offensive coordinator.

Evidently, Malzahn wouldn’t mind reuniting with Marshall. In fairness, Florida State could use the help. The Seminoles allowed 49 sacks this season, the most in the ACC. In comparison, Marshall and the UCF offensive line only gave up 28 sacks in the regular season.
Marshall played high school football at Morgantown (WV), where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 2,066 overall recruit and No. 210 offensive tackle in the 2020 recruiting cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
