Florida State wanted to take a piece of The Swamp home with it following a 24-15 victory against rival Florida on Saturday. Seminoles players Trey Benson and Jared Verse were caught on camera postgame using scissors to cut a piece of turf from the end zone at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.

Police reportedly came over to stop the Florida State players from doing any more damage, but not before they walked away with a a good chunk of the field in their hands. Given the big win, which was the second straight for the Seminoles in the rivalry with the Gators, the celebration is well-earned. You can view the moment below.

Playing without starting quarterback Jordan Travis, Florida State got off to a rocky start as Florida jumped out to a 12-0 lead. The Seminoles were held scoreless for nearly the entire first half before Benson punched in a one-yard touchdown with 26 seconds remaining in the second quarter.

That seemed to ignite something in the offense, which opened the third quarter with another touchdown to take its first lead of the evening. Florida responded with a field goal to retake the lead, but that would be its final points of the evening as the Seminoles defense stood strong.

FSU later kicked another field goal before Benson broke free for a 26-yard touchdown with 2:48 remaining to put the game away. Benson scored all three of the Seminoles’ touchdowns to finish with 95 yards in the win.

Florida State now turns its attention to the ACC Championship against Louisville, where it needs a win to stay alive in the College Football Playoff conversation. Kickoff for that contest is set for 8 p.m. ET on Saturday at Bank of America Stadium.

Mike Norvell focused on ACC Championship after win against Florida

Florida State went on the road with a backup quarterback making his first start of the season and won a rivalry game against Florida. All things considered, Seminoles head coach Mike Norvell isn’t going to scoff at a 24-15 win to finish the regular season undefeated.

Speaking with ESPN’s Holly Rowe after the win, Norvell lauded the way his Florida State squad responded to deficits and setbacks throughout the game.

“Just what we’re made of. We’re built for moments like that. A lot of adversity, didn’t play very good at the start of the game but these have tremendous hearts. They work, they challenge themselves and in moments like this when everything’s stacked against you, they just respond,” Norvell said.
