Transfer quarterback DJ Uiagalelei is expected to be the starter for Florida State this upcoming season, returning to the ACC to finish out his college career with the Seminoles following stints with Clemson and Oregon State. But with fall camp already nearly a week underway in Tallahassee, Uiagalelei is not avoiding any competition.

Following practice on Tuesday, Uiagalelei was asked about his competition with Brock Glenn. The quarterback who started in the final two games of the season last year for the Seminoles following several injuries in the quarterback room.

“Every day man pushing each other to be great. Brock’s an unbelievable guy, unbelievable quarterback. Shoot he had a couple throws today that were amazing, throughout this whole fall camp,” Uiagalelei revealed.

Glenn’s two outings as a starter last season were not remarkable by any stretch, completing 17 of his 47 pass attempts for 194 yards and two interceptions. Failing to reach the end zone in the ACC Championship game or the Orange Bowl.

But according to Uiagalelei, Glenn has looked impressive so far during fall camp and played his part and pushing a quarterback room that’s eager to compete and improve ahead of the season.

“He comes into work each and every day, he pushes all of us, and I think that’s just kind of like the culture on our room. Not just him, Luke [Kromenhoek], D Mack [Dylan McNamara], Trev [Trever Jackson], Big Mike [Michael Grant], we all push each other,” Uiagalelei explained.

Uiagalelei is the veteran of the quarterback room and the only upperclassman of the group with plenty more experience than his counterparts. But that hasn’t stopped Florida State’s quarterbacks from pushing each other to reach a common coal.

“We all want to see each other be great because the end of the day, if we all get great as a collective group and rise up, that’s just gonna make me better, it’s gonna make everyone else better,” Uiagalelei said. “And whoever the starter is, is going to be able to keep going up.”

It’d be surprising if Uiagalelei did not wind up winning the starting quarterback job for the Seminoles, spoken highly of by his head coach and teammates in his short amount of time with the team for his character off the field and what he’s been able to do on the field.

But it’s clear the the culture in the Seminoles’ quarterback room during fall camp is a strong one that could set the team up for success at the position beyond Uiagalelei’s final college season this year.
