The Florida State Seminoles released their non-conference basketball schedule for the 2023-2024 campaign. The school made the announcement on their website, per a release. FSU head basketball coach Leonard Hamilton has said he expects to release the team’s full slate in early September. The Seminoles will play host to seven non-conference games, including the Georgia Bulldogs in the inaugural ACC/SEC challenge. For the official release you can find that here.

The Seminoles open the season with two straight home games against Kennesaw State (Nov. 10) and Central Michigan (Nov. 13), they face Georgia (Nov. 29), and close the month of December with four consecutive non-ACC home games: SMU (Dec. 16), North Florida (Dec. 19), Winthrop (Dec. 22), and Lipscomb (Dec. 30th).

Florida State’s game against Georgia in the ACC/SEC Challenge will be the Bulldogs’ first time in Tallahassee since December 1, 1981. FSU is 9-3 against Georgia in games they’ve played in Tallahassee.

The Seminoles’ matchup with Georgia will be a special night for former FSU Hall of Famer Hugh Durham. He was also the former head coach for Georgia basketball. He became Florida State’s head coach in 1966. He went 229-96 in 12 seasons and led the Seminoles to three NCAA Tournaments, including a national runner-up finish in 1972. He became Georgia’s head coach in 1979, finishing with a 297-215 overall record in 17 seasons. With the Bulldogs, he led the team to a Final Four in 1983.

Florida State returns a number of talented players for the 2023-204 season, including Darin Green and Cam’Ron Fletcher. Green finished as one of three players in the ACC with 90 or more three-pointers and averaged 34.1 minutes per game last year for the ‘Noles. Fletcher was poised to have an All-ACC type of season (10.8 ppg and 7.5 rpg), before injuring his knee on Dec. 3 at Virginia and missing the rest of the year. They also welcome in Jaylan Gainey, a two-time Ivy League Defender of the Year, who missed the entire 2022-2023 campaign.

They’ll also return Baba Miller, a player who was highly regarded coming out of high school.

A four-star prospect and top 100 player in the On3 Industry Ranking, Miller entered his freshman season with high expectations. The numbers did not exactly pan out to what some had hoped to see from Miller, though. Miller averaged just 4.3 points and 3.7 rebounds per game this season. Miller played just 15 games and averaged 17.3 minutes per game while he battled injuries. He did not make his debut until January 11.

Miller scored double digits just twice in the 15 games he played last year. Miller scored 11 points in a late January loss to Clemson and 12 points in a rematch with the Tigers the following month. In the Seminoles’ season-ending loss to Georgia Tech in the ACC Tournament, Miller had four points and eight rebounds in 17 minutes of work.
