Ahead of their matchup Sunday night in the Superdome, Florida State revealed their full uniform for the game against LSU. The Seminoles shared the image on their social media, sharing the Garnet and Gold color combination with the iconic Superdome seating in the background.

Florida State shows off their LSU game uniform

Florida State will be bringing their Garnet jerseys and Gold pants to the field on Sunday night, with white jersey numbers. While the uniform isn’t an unusual combination, the image of their pads sitting on the field of the Superdome in the bright lights hammers home how big their matchup is.

Sunday’s game is LSU’s first time playing in the Superdome since they won a national title on Jan. 13, 2020. Fans of the Seminoles and the Tigers both shared videos all throughout the day of tailgating parties and the general excitement around New Orleans ahead of the big game.

The uniform combination worked as Florida State survived a dramatic comeback attempt by LSU, winning the game after blocking an extra point attempt. After both teams turned the ball over in the final minutes of the game, LSU drove 99 yards down the field and scored a touchdown as time expired — setting up an extra point attempt to force overtime.

The Seminoles came up tremendously huge with the game on the line, blocking their second kick of the night and securing the 24-23 win.

FSU vs LSU ends in dramatic fashion

With a seven point deficit and time running out, LSU forced a stop and prepared to get the ball back from a Florida State punt. The comeback nearly ended immediately after the Tigers muffed their second punt of the game and turned it over on the goal line.

The Seminoles attempted to punch a game-sealing touchdown in with just over two minutes remaining in the game and ultimately fumbled the ball themselves at the one-yard line. LSU recovered and prepared a 99-yard drive that resulted in a thrilling finish to regulation — as the teams nearly went to overtime tied at 24-24.

The final drive of regulation ended with incredible drama as countless LSU plays ended with chunks of yardage and getting out of bounds in a hurry. The drive came to its conclusion after a play finished just shy of the end zone with one second on the clock. Originally the ball-carrier was ruled out-of-bounds, setting up a goal-line play to decide the game.

Upon review however, the play was ruled down before reaching the sideline, setting up a one-second final play. LSU completed the incredible drive, scoring the touchdown they needed — before Florida State denied them at the last moment. Special teams proved the difference throughout the game, as the Seminoles had blocked an earlier field goal attempt by the Tigers and recovered the ball twice off of muffed punts during the game.
