Florida State pulled off a major recruiting win on Sunday, as Miami Central five-star defensive lineman Armondo Blount flipped to the Seminoles from Miami.
Along with his decision came a reclassification to the 2024 cycle. Blount enters the current class as the No. 12 overall prospect and No. 3 DL, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
“I have been thinking about it for a while,” Blount told On3 about his decision. “Florida State has been in the back of my head since I committed to Miami. For about two weeks now, I have been thinking about this.”
The addition of Blount bumped FSU up two spots to No. 4 in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Ranking. The Noles are only behind Georgia, Ohio State and Florida and are now ahead of Alabama and Texas A&M.
Blount makes three 5-star pledges for the Seminoles
Florida State now has one of just five classes that features three or more five-star commitments. Still leading the way for the Seminoles is Buford (Ga.) Five-Star Plus+ safety KJ Bolden, the No. 8 prospect and No. 1 safety in the cycle.
“I committed to Florida State for multiple reasons,” Bolden told On3. “Florida State has been my dream school since I was growing up. Since I was a kid, I always wanted to go there. I also really like what Coach Mike Norvell is doing with the program.

Joining Bolden and Blount at the top is Venice (Fla.) five-star cornerback Charles Lester III, another top-30 recruit and the No. 2 CB. The class also features an additional three top-75 prospects: Savannah (Ga.) Benedictine Military four-star quarterback Luke Kromenhoek, Moultrie (Ga.) Colquitt County four-star tight end Landen Thomas and Albany (Ga.) Dougherty four-star running back Kam Davis.
In total, Mike Norvell’s pledge list consists of 22 commits, 18 of whom hail from Georgia or Florida. The class also consists of 13 blue-chip prospects.
Behind the aforementioned commits, Pensacola (Fla.) Pine Forest four-star offensive tackle Jonathan Daniels, Olney (Md.) Good Counsel four-star wide receiver Elijah Moore and Miami Central four-star WR Lawayne McCoy are all top-200 prospects.
Moore and McCoy are two of four wideout pledges for the Seminoles, alongside Rochelle (Ga.) Wilcox County four-star BJ Gibson and Lake City (Fla.) Columbia three-star Camdon Frier. Blount becomes just the third DL pledge for FSU this cycle, joining Washington DC Gonzaga four-star EDGE DD Holmes and Miami Booker T. Washington three-star Jamorie Flagg.
