Florida State won out in another tight recruitment for an elite wide receiver on Saturday, as Lucas (Texas) Lovejoy four-star wide receiver Daylan McCutcheon committed to the Seminoles over Texas, USC and others.

The No. 98 overall prospect and No. 15 wideout in the On3 Industry Ranking, McCutcheon becomes commitment No. 12 this cycle for the Mike Norvell and the FSU staff. With the addition of the Lone Star State standout, the Noles jumped three spots in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings to No. 7 in the nation.

“My family is originally from Florida and Florida State is a big school when it comes to my family,” McCutcheon said earlier this week. “The fanbase of Florida State is big and when you look at campus life, the main thing in Tallahassee is Florida State football. I like that a lot.

“Another reason why I like Florida State is coach Mike Norvell and how he is going to be able to push me each and every day if I go there. I like how he made the culture of the team family-oriented.”

The Seminoles are making a run for a top-five class overall and now currently have a grip on the No. 1 class in the ACC. All but two of the commits in the class are blue-chip recruits.

FSU lands another Top-100 prospect

On June 25, Milton (Ga.) four-star WR CJ Wiley made a surprise call in favor of the Seminoles, providing a major boost to FSU’s class. He’s now one of two top-100 wideouts in the mix in Tallahassee.

Jacksonville Raines five-star interior offensive lineman Solomon Thomas remains the headline pledge in the class, checking in at No. 13 overall and No. 1 at his position. Despite flip rumors, Thomas has maintained that he is locked in with the Noles.
