Mike Norvell explains how Jordan Travis has progressed since end of 2021 season
Florida State head coach Mike Norvell had a front row seat to watch quarterback Jordan Travis progress throughout this offseason, and believes his QB1 has taken a huge leap heading into the 2022 college football season.
“I think that as you watch quarterback growth, it’s the driver of any offense,” Norvell said. “I’ll tell you that with Jordan being here and just seeing his growth and the ownership of this position and the opportunity that he has you look at the growth from this last season as he went through the year and just the confidence that started to show up within all of the experiences that he had on the field, the continued growth in the meeting room and now he is making it his.
“I’m so excited about that room and the future that Jordan has because that definitely pushes everything within our offense forward at an accelerated rate.”
Last season, Travis finished his redshirt sophomore campaign 122 for 194 passing for 1,539 yards and 15 touchdowns. He was effective on the ground as well, rushing for 530 yards and seven touchdowns. At the end of the season, Travis earned the team’s Offensive MVP award. He was one of four ACC players to pass for more than 1,500 yards and rush for more than 500 yards.

Building on 2021, Travis has been named to the Maxwell Preseason Award watch list ahead of his expected breakout season. While Travis himself said he typically doesn’t get caught up in all the hype – it’s certainly a rewarding feeling after all the work he put in throughout the offseason.
“We had a great spring seeing the guys out there this summer and being able to get in the meeting room and just hearing the ownership and the understanding of what we’re trying to accomplish, but then still being able to tailor it to the playmakers that we have,” Norvell said.
“I think we have a great foundation that’s been built, but I do believe the sky is the limit for what these guys can accomplish because of the work that they put in and the great talents that they have.”
