Jordan Travis reveals the identity of the Florida State offense ahead of 2022 season
The Florida State Seminoles did not have much of an offensive identity throughout the 2021 season. This resulted in some games where the team just looked somewhat lost on the offensive side of the ball. If the Seminoles want to bounce back from last season’s woes, an offensive identity must be forged. And that is something Florida State has been working hard on throughout this offseason.
Starting quarterback Jordan Travis recently revealed the Seminoles’ new identity on offense ahead of the 2022 season.
“I think we can do everything well. We can block well, throw the ball very well, run the ball,” said Travis. “It’s a bunch of tough guys that come to work every single day. Camp has been very tough. Guys have come here every single day and worked their tails off, and I’m proud of them. I’ll just say it’s a hard-nosed football team. It could run the ball down your throat, and we can also throw the ball deep.”
Florida State’s struggles on offense last season could be directly linked to the team’s struggles along the offensive line end at quarterback. The Seminoles allowed 36 sacks in 2021 between their two starting quarterbacks, McKenzie Milton and Travis. The two battled through most of the beginning part of the year to be named the starter, with Travis winning out in the end, courtesy of his dual-threat ability.

The Seminoles would love to right their wrongs from last season with a resounding bounce-back year in 2022. However, only time will tell if Florida State has indeed sculpted an offensive identity this offseason. Fans will get their first look at the Seminoles’ offense on Saturday when they take on Duquesne at home in their season opener.
Norvell, Florida State won’t be sleeping on Duquesne in Week 0
Florida State and head coach Mike Norvell are chomping at the bit to get their college season underway and redeem themselves from their subpar 2021 campaign. While many have their Week 1 matchup against the LSU Tigers circled on their calendar; the Seminoles will have a Week 0 matchup to start their year. Florida State will officially kickoff its season against Duquesne at home on Saturday. And Norvell understands the importance of starting off this season strong, which is why Florida State won’t be sleeping on Duquesne in Week 0.
“Our guys are excited to play, and being able to play at home, like I mentioned, is something that we’re definitely excited about,” said Norvell. “And this Duquesne team that’s coming in, it’s a program that’s had a lot of success over the last couple years. Their head coach has been there, I want to say going to 18 years — very disciplined football.”
