Mycah Pittman compliments Florida State staff, takes shot at Joe Moorhead
When Mario Cristobal left Oregon in favor of the state of Florida, wide receiver Mycah Pittman decided to follow his head coach to the Sunshine State. However, they will be on opposite sidelines this season, with Pittman ending up with head coach Mike Norvell and the Florida State Seminoles. Early on, he is not regretting his decision.
Pittman talked about the new offense he will be playing in while taking a shot at his old offensive coordinator, Joe Moorhead. He said Norvell is doing something an OC has never done for him before — put him in quality positions to make quality plays. Playing in the new offense and in Tallahassee is something Pittman is already enjoying.
“It’s definitely an explosive offense,” Pittman said. “There’s a lot of things that come with a great mind like Coach Norvell and Coach Atkins. There’s a lot of concepts, a lot of beaters that can be inverse. There’s a bunch of stuff that goes into this offense that I am glad to be a part of. I mean, you look back at Coach Norvell’s history with his receivers — he’s been so explosive with a lot of his guys and displayed a lot of their abilities.
“Coach Norvell and Coach Atkins has put me in positions to make plays in camp and they use my strengths. That’s something that’s new to me. I never really had an offensive coordinator that actually put me in a position to make a play that I’m actually capable of doing very frequently.”

Pittman played in 22 games while at Oregon, making starts in 12 of them over a three-year period. He was only able to get 547 receiving yards on 38 receptions plus two touchdowns. There was never a true breakout season when in Euguene and Pittman will be hoping to do so against ACC competition this season.
Mike Norvell impressed with Mycah Pittman
Although Pittman got off to a rocky start early in fall camp, he appears to be finding his footing of late. After a recent practice session this week, Norvell took the time to praise Pittman for his improved play.
“He showed up big,” the coach said. “Had some great catches. He’s a very talented young man. Had some inconsistent moments to his standards here in camp, but he’s really responding well. I think the last couple of days have been trending upwards for him. Made some big plays down the field and then today I thought he was all over the place making plays. He had a couple touchdowns, red zone, all those things. It was good.”
