The time is now for Florida State to take the next step as a football program. That means an ACC title and the College Football Playoff should firmly be in the crosshairs.

Jordan Travis, Trey Benson, Johnny Wilson and Keon Coleman make up quite the offense. If the Seminoles put it all together this season,

On3’s J.D. PicKell explained why this could be the year on The Hard Count.

“Time is of the essence for Florida State,” PicKell said. “And the reason why is because this is your window. Very rarely do you have everything lined up the way it’s lined up at Florida State. Quarterback? Back. I mean they have the number one returning production in college football. You have a coach who has been there for a minute now and the culture is established.

“This is your shot now. This is the shot. The ACC, I think Florida State for a lot of people is the favorite to win the ACC. You got a fastball coming right over the plate. You don’t see a pitch like that every so often. This is the time, this is the year swing hard, make contact, hit it out of the park. Because if you do, there will be ripple effects for Florida State they will reap the benefits of for years to come. It all starts Week 1 in Orlando against LSU.”

Travis comes in with some credentials after a solid season in 2022. Last year, he threw for 3,214 yards, 24 touchdowns, five interceptions, a 64% completion percentage, had 417 rushing yards and seven touchdowns on the ground.

“Jordan Travis, I think, has a very legitimate shot to win the Heisman Trophy,” PicKell said. “His path looks different than Caleb Williams in the sense that Jordan Travis has two early stages. He’s going to have to make a statement like he’s got to hit the campaign trail a little bit early. You got Week 1 in front of the entire country. The game of the weekend. LSU in Orlando, very, very big game.”

Wilson is one of the biggest targets in college football, but the key could be Coleman. It gave Florida State a legit No. 2 wide receiver that could very well be a No. 1.At Michigan State last season, Coleman had 58 catches for 798 yards (13.8 yards per catch) and seven touchdowns.
Florida State might have its best chance in a very long time to do something pretty special.
