Florida State vs Duquesne delayed due to lightning in the area
The kickoff for the 5:00 PM EST game between Florida State and Duquesne is officially delayed. At 4:55 PM EST, Florida State’s football Twitter account posted a message about the lightning warning. “We are still in a lightning warning as we approach our scheduled kickoff time. Once pregame warmups resume, we will have a new anticipated kickoff time.” There is lightning in the area of Tallahassee, Florida. We are still awaiting the official word of kickoff time for tonight’s game.
There are plenty of fans in the stands at Doak Campbell Stadium, but as of 5:17 PM EST, kickoff is still delayed.
Florida State is opening their third season under Mike Norvell. With an 8-13 record his first two seasons, Seminoles faithful are hoping to see their first winning campaign since 2017. Based on ESPN’s predictions for this season, they may get just that down in Tallahassee.
An article from Mark Schlabach at ESPN predicted the outcome of each Power 5 conference in 2022. For one of Schlabach’s bold ACC predictions, he has Florida State making their first bowl game since 2019.

“Bobby Bowden guided the Seminoles to 28 consecutive bowl games from 1982 to 2009, but they haven’t played in the postseason in three of the past four seasons,” said Schlabach. “With seven home games and a finally improving offensive line, FSU should be good enough to get to 6-6 or better.”
Norvell’s team missed the bowl season by a game in 2021 with a 5-7 record. A four game losing streak, including a loss to an FCS team, did Florida State no favors. However, turning it around to finish 5-3 was an improvement. Schlabach says their season was better than some realized. They just couldn’t shake people first noticing their initial four game stretch.
