Lorenzo Booker reveals feelings on son camping at Florida State
Former Florida State running back Lorenzo Booker made an appearance back on campus Sunday as his son was a participant in FSU’s Mega Camp. Booker hadn’t stepped foot on campus since his playing days, and was asked what is was like now seeing his son compete on his old stomping grounds.
“Surreal, and I mean he was literally made in Tallahassee,” Booker laughed and said. “So for him he’s been hearing about it from me and his mother his entire life. Everywhere in the house is Florida State and stuff like that so for him it was like being home even though physically he hadn’t been here. For him, it’s still like being home because he knows so much about it.
Lorenzo’s son Kayin Booker is a wide receiver in the 2025 class that’s actually new to the game of football, with his focus primarily being on basketball. But the 6-foot-2, 200-pound junior is now looking to take his size and athleticism from the hardwood to the field and follow in the footsteps of his father.
There’s no doubt Lorenzo Booker has left some big shoes to fill, boasting an impressive career during his time with the Seminoles. In 2002 Booker was rated the No. 1 running back in the country coming out of St. Bonaventure high school in Ventura, California where Kayin currently attends school.

He ended his career at FSU with 3,453 all-purpose yards and 17 total touchdowns, helping lead Florida State to a dominant 44-27 victory versus UCLA in the Emerald Bowl in the final game of his collegiate career where he accounted for 208 yards and two touchdowns.
Booker was selected in the third round with the No. 71 overall pick in the 2007 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins, signing a four-year contract with the Dolphins on May 24, 2007. Throughout his career he also ended up making stops with the Philadelphia Eagles, Philadelphia Eagles, and Chicago Bears. 2012 was his final NFL season, as he’d end his six-year professional career with 230 rushing yards on 61 carries along with 47 receptions for 362 yards.
Booker is now retired in California where he helps coach his son, and maybe one day Kayin Booker will be able to take the field at Doak Campbell Stadium on a game day for the Seminoles the same way his father did in the early 2000s.
