4-star 2022 EDGE Trevion Williams reopening his recruitment
Crystal Springs (Miss.) 2022 four-star EDGE Trevion Williams has backed off his commitment from Florida State, adding insult to injury for the 1-4 Seminoles.
“I had my options weighed and I’ve sort of backed off of FSU a little bit to weigh my options again,” Williams told the Clarion Ledger. “I’m trying to stay close to home. Or if I can get a better offer for what I feel like is best for me to get to the next level.”
Williams, a consensus four-star prospect, committed to the Seminoles in July over offers from Auburn, Tennessee, Ole Miss and Mississippi State. He visited Florida State earlier this season, but he recently picked up an offer from LSU. The in-state Rebels and Bulldogs are likely to be considered the favorites, though the Tigers could make a push if he’s willing to leave The Magnolia State.
Florida State trying to keep commits in the fray
Head coach Mike Norvell‘s year-plus tenure in Tallahassee hasn’t exactly lived up the expectations that were set when he was hired. The Seminoles are just 4-10 under Norvell, including a loss to FCS Jacksonville State and a blowout at the hands of Wake Forest.

Despite the team’s on-field struggles, FSU has put together a top-10 recruiting class for 2022. That includes Travis Hunter, the No. 2 overall prospect in the 2022 On300. Hunter remains committed to the Seminoles, but he did visit Georgia last week and will remain a major flip possibility until the early signing period opens in December.
Sam McCall, another one of the prized prospects on FSU’s 2022 commit list, has heard from a handful of SEC schools despite remaining committed to FSU. Whether he reopens his recruitment likely depends on if Florida State makes a coaching change, but nonetheless, he will be another player to keep an eye on as we head toward December.
