Goldie Lawrence shares what he can learn from veteran Florida State receivers
Going into the 2023 season, the Seminoles will be relying on an offense powered by quarterback Jordan Travis and a slew of talented Florida State receivers.
And the beauty of the depth and quality of talent Florida State has at the wideout position is that even the young guys have an immaculate vision of what is expected of them. The veterans are showing them the way.
“Everything, man. I mean just their work ethic,” freshman receiver Goldie Lawrence said. “Man, Keon (Coleman), details, he stay on it. He knows everything. Really taken me under his wing.”
Coleman is the newest addition to the Florida State receivers room, arriving by way of Michigan State through the transfer portal. He’s a bonafide star, one that the Seminoles will be relying on if they hope to make a playoff push.
While with the Spartans, Coleman racked up 798 yards and seven touchdowns receiving in 2022.
But he’s only one of a handful of veterans that are showing the ropes to the younger Florida State receivers. Johnny Wilson is an equally talented veteran, going for 897 yards and five touchdowns a year ago.

That duo was a big part of the reason that Pro Football Focus tabbed the Florida State receivers as the No. 5 unit in the country heading into 2023.
Wrote On3, in describing the Florida State receivers:
“The Seminoles were huge winners in the transfer portal when it comes to building a top wide receiver group, with the addition of Michigan State star Keon Coleman a huge get. Tight end Jaheim Bell from South Carolina was another real steal.
“Throw those guys in with returning monster Johnny Wilson, a 6-foot-7 target who can get downfield, and quarterback Jordan Travis will have quite the arsenal to work with. It should be fun to watch.”
Of course, above and beyond the listed guys, Florida State will be hoping guys like Lawrence step up.
Lawrence was a three-star prospect in the 2023 class, a class that saw the Seminoles take a pair of four-star receivers as well in the likes of Hykeem Williams (No. 34 overall nationally) and Vandrevious Jacobs (No. 336).
The good news: Lawrence says they’re learning everything they need from the veterans.
