Florida State wide receiver Jalen Brown and a Seminoles staffer got into an argument on the sideline during Friday’s game against Duke. Teammates had to pull Brown away to focus on the upcoming drive, according to Brennan Sonnone.

The incident occurred after a turnover – one of three committed by Florida State in as many plays in the first half. Brown was the intended receiver on what turned into a pick-six by Brock Glenn, which gave Duke a 7-3 lead with 1:38 to play in the first quarter.

Duke later took a 17-6 lead into halftime after Florida State committed two more turnovers. However, the Seminoles got a spark right out of the break when Sam Singleton ran the kickoff back for a touchdown to make it a 17-13 ballgame.

Jalen Brown entered Friday night’s game with eight receptions for 75 yards as he goes through the first part of his freshman season. He didn’t play in Florida State’s most recent game against Clemson, but was back on the field against Duke.

Glenn struggled mightily in Friday night’s matchup in Durham. He went 3-for-10 for 37 yards with two interceptions, along with a lost fumble, before Luke Kromenhoek came in to replace him. The freshman finished the first half 2-for-5 for 12 yards in his first game action of the season.

Kromenhoek arrived on campus this year as a key piece of Florida State’s recruiting class. The Savannah (Ga.) Benedictine Military School product was a four-star prospect and the No. 45 overall player from the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Florida State has now turned to its third quarterback of the season amid a 1-5 start to the year. DJ Uiagalelei came in as a highly rated transfer from Oregon State, but underwent surgery on his hand and is now on the sidelines. That meant Glenn came in as the starter, and he threw for 228 yards and two touchdowns on 23 of 41 passing last time out against Clemson before FSU’s bye week.
