Jared Verse details how Florida State can reach College Football Playoff in 2023
No team is garnering more College Football Playoff attention in the ACC than Florida State. Mike Norvell has built the roster to have people in Tallahassee excited. A mix of returning stars, such as EDGE Jared Verse, plus new faces through recruiting and the NCAA transfer portal makes for one of the conference’s best.
A tough schedule is ahead but there is certainly a path to being one of the final four teams at the end of the season.
When asked if he thought Florida State could make the College Football Playoff, Verse said there is always a chance. But in order to do so, they are going to have to go onto the field and execute. Verse likes their chances if the Seminoles are able to play to the level they are capable of.
“I don’t think there’s any doubt in that,” Verse said. “I think if we do what we are able to do, we compete the way we are able to compete, we play the way we are able to play — play as one — I don’t think there is anyone that can stop us. But we got to be able to do those things, execute.”
Execution will likely come into play when Florida State begins to play the quality teams the ACC has to offer. Against three ranked opponents last year, the Seminoles were on the losing end each time. Two of the games were within a possession as well.

We will likely get that right away, with LSU being first up on the schedule. No preseason poll has been released but the matchup is expected to be between top-10 ranked teams. And with how LSU is projected to do in the SEC this season, earning a win would be great for the Florida State College Football Playoff resume.
However, as Verse mentioned, everything comes down to execution. Not just in one game against somebody like LSU but throughout the entire season.
As a program, Florid State making the College Football Playoff would not be a new experience. In the inaugural edition back in 2014, Jimbo Fisher and Jameis Winston led the Seminoles out to the Rose Bowl to face off against Oregon. The result was not great and they currently sit with an all-time record of 0-1 in the CFP.
Nearly a decade later and Norvell is hoping to lead them back. And once Florida State is there, you know the goal will instantly shift toward getting a win to compete for a national championship.
