WATCH: Jared Verse explains trash talk with Oklahoma lineman after Cheez-It Bowl

The last memory fans have of Florida State star EDGE Jared Verse this year was him getting in the face of Oklahoma offensive lineman Tyler Guyton. Verse joined the Transfer Portal CFB YouTube show to explain his actions, giving Guyton high praise in the process.
“I have to give them credit, No. 60 their right tackle (Guyton), that’s a guy. Honestly, he’s the best tackle I played against this year,” Verse said. “That’s a bold statement but I’m going to have to stand by it, too. That guy was a dog, but he kept locking me up, giving me different looks – it was something I’d never seen before.
“He kept mentally getting in my head, and I was like okay I’ve got to calm down. … When I came out, I realized what I had to do – just run through his face.”
Verse said he lined up against Guyton, got locked up again and that’s when Guyton started the trash-talking. That set him over the edge before the final snap; the rest is on tape.

“They snapped the ball, I went straight through his edge, he tried to open up to throw me by, but I just ran through and got right to the quarterback,” Verse said. “I got back up and said, ‘How you like that?’ -I’m not going to actually say what I said because we’re on the air – but I said, ‘How you like that?’ and a couple of other choice words.”
The Florida State star continued his harsh words after the game went final.
“After the game, I just got in his face and said, ‘you can’t f’ing stop me, you’ll never get in my way, you can’t mess with me. Go back to your sideline and get out of my state,'” Verse said.
Verse finished the season with First Team All-ACC honors an is projected to be a first-round draft pick this April, according to NFL Draft expert Todd McShay’s first mock draft of the year.
