Johnny Wilson eager to play in first bowl game
It wasn’t a one-year turnaround for Mike Norvell at Florida State, who has finally made a bowl game in his third season as the Seminoles head coach. Getting to this point was largely thanks to players like Jordan Travis and Johnny Wilson, who have helped change the culture in Tallahassee.
For Johnny Wilson, this will be his first bowl game in college. It’s an opportunity that he’s incredibly excited about.
“For the team, it’s been a couple years since they’ve been to a bowl game, but me last year, my old school, we made it to a bowl game,” Johnny Wilson explained. “But, I didn’t play in it. So, this is my first experience at bowl games.”
“So, it’s big for me,” Johnny Wilson said.
“We just keep on talking about that 10-win season and I don’t care who we play. I don’t care who we play. I just want that last win on the season. So, I’m excited. I know the team’s excited to go out there and put on a show.”
Johnny Wilson transferred to Florida State from Arizona State. Coming out of high school, he was a four-star recruit in the Class of 2020. Florida State hasn’t made a bowl game since 2019.

Johnny Wilson doesn’t know what’s next
This is the time of year when a lot of players take inventory and think about their futures, be that going pro or looking for a new school. However, Johnny Wilson doesn’t know what’s coming in his immediate future.
“I haven’t even put much thought into it. Honestly, everyone is just focused on this next game, this next win,” Johnny Wilson said.
“I have no clue on what God has in store for me yet. So, I’m just taking it one day at a time, one step at a time, one game at a time. I just want to go and get this last win.”
