Jordan Travis calls Duke a disciplined team
In a key ACC matchup this weekend, the Duke Blue Devils will travel to Tallahassee to take on the Florida State Seminoles. Within that game, the excellent Duke defense will look to slow down the explosive Florida State offense, led by quarterback Jordan Travis.
Leading up to the game, Travis shared that he knows it won’t be easy going against the Duke defense. In particular, he praised how disciplined a team Duke is.
“Just a disciplined team,” Jordan Travis said. “They fly to the ball. They do all the little things right. So, it’s just a really talented team.”
This is Duke’s second season under head coach Mike Elko. During his time there, he’s quickly turned the Blue Devils into one of the ACC’s most formidable opponents. Now, behind that incredibly talented defense, Elko has the Blue Devils ranked and playing incredibly well.
Still, to this point in the season, Duke hasn’t played a team as consistently strong on offense as Florida State has been with Jordan Travis under center. The Seminoles are seventh nationally in scoring offense this season, averaging 42.2 points per game. Compare that to the scoring defense of Duke, which is fourth nationally and only allowing 9.83 points per game, and this game may be a matter of an unstoppable force hitting an immovable object.
Despite that, Vegas has this as a two-score game with FanDuel making the Seminoles a 13.5-point favorite. That’s a number head coach Mike Norvell disagrees with after the praise he poured onto Duke.

“You watch film, and you see really good players. They’ve been productive, they’ve done everything they needed to do,” Norvell said.
“They’re one play away in that Notre Dame game. I mean, you kind of felt for him for how it all played out. But this is a very, very talented team, and it’s one that you don’t need to give a motivational speech to any of our guys because they know the challenge that’s ahead. And it’s going to take our best game. You know, I’m looking forward to the continued week of preparation. But yeah, our guys know.”
Mike Norvell on the availability of Jordan Travis
In the win over Syracuse, Jordan Travis got banged up and had an issue with his hand. That led to some concern about his availability for the game against Duke. However, Mike Norvell confirmed that he’ll be good to go on Saturday.
“[Jordan Travis] is going to be good to go,” Norvell said. “He had something with his non-throwing hand there in the last game. He’s displayed toughness throughout the season. Playing quarterback can be a daunting task sometimes and Jordan has displayed toughness. He’s played at such a high level doing a great job holding the ball, and then he’s so very productive and what he does.”
