Florida State quarterback Jordan Travis was injured during the Seminoles ACC opener against Louisville. With his return looking bleak throughout the week, Travis toughed out last Saturday’s start against Boston College – and looked more than healthy in the 44-14 victory.

“I was in the training room a lot,” Travis said Wednesday of his recovery process last week. “The trainers did a great job this past week just pushing me, I was in there all day long, so kudos to them. I mean, the coaches pushed me really hard and my teammates pushed me to get in there, so I was there just working hard.”

Tade Rodemaker was the man that replaced Travis against the Cardinals, and after he led the ‘Noles to a comeback victory, Travis was the first to publicly praise his cohort on keeping Florida State afloat on the road in an ACC matchup.

Before his injury, Travis completed his first 11 passes but was 13-for-17 for 157 yards and two touchdowns. With his recovery timetable uncertain during the game, and walking along the sideline with a boot, that praise speaks to the type of leader Mike Norvell has under center. Fully willing to back another Rodemaker start if he wasn’t ready to go, Travis’ MRI on his leg came back negative and was a game day decision.

“I knew since Sunday, the day after. I tried to get back in the game that Saturday, but the trainers told me that they have to protect me from myself,” Travis said about his injury. “I always try to get back out there, so I knew I was going to play (against Boston College).”

The FSU QB1 would go on to complete 16-of-26 passing for 321 yards and a touchdown. He did not throw an interception and he also added one carry for 16 yards in the 44-14 victory over their ACC foe.

Behind Travis’ play under center, Florida State stands as one of four teams in the conference boasting undefeated records. While their opponent doesn’t appear in that list this week, No. 23 Wake Forest is more than capable of playing spoiler to the Seminoles’ undefeated season after giving No. 5 Clemson a run for its money in a double overtime thriller last weekend.
