Jordan Travis explains how the talent around him makes life easy
Being a high-level quarterback at the collegiate level is contingent on the level of skill an individual has in the pocket. But there is another element to being one of the best quarterbacks in the country. It helps if you have talent around you to make plays when you deliver the ball.
Florida State Seminoles starting quarterback Jordan Travis is learning that firsthand. Recently the Seminoles’ signal caller took some time to explain how the talent around him is making life easier for him on the field.
“It makes the quarterback’s job easier when you have guys like that across the field at every position – running back, tight end, receiver. I mean it makes my job easier,” said Travis. “I’m confident as ever. When you can go out and just throw the ball up in the air and have Johnny Wilson or Keon [Coleman] or Kentron [Poitier], one of those big guys go up and get the ball and bring it down and make plays after the catch, it’s special.”
Travis has many talented pass-catchers around him. The last offseason saw Florida State add former Arizona State wide receiver Johnny Wilson to their receiver room; Travis’s favorite target in 2022. In his first season in the offense, Wilson distinguished himself as an elite threat on the outside with 43 receptions for 897 yards and five touchdowns in 13 games. The six-foot-seven wideout was Florida State’s leader in all three categories and average yards per reception at 20.9 yards a catch.
Aside from Wilson, the Seminoles have several other talented players on offense, who Travis mentioned above. And that not only makes Travis’ life easier but makes them a threat whenever they take the field.

Travis reveals the big takeaways he learned from Manning Passing Academy
Travis learned some valuable lessons this past week at the Manning Passing Academy at Nicholls State University. Gearing up for a big 2023 season in which the Seminoles are projected to contend for an ACC Championship, Travis joined names like Drake Maye, Jayden Daniels, and Joe Milton to receive advice from former NFL QBs Peyton and Eli Manning.
Once the camp wrapped up, Travis came away with a lot of useful tips to use both on the field and how to become a better leader off it. He believes that will help him build on the success he had this past season.
“There was a bunch (that I learned),” he said. “They talked to us about pregame stuff and how they go through film. Being a good person. That matters when it comes to earning the respect of your teammates. You never asked for respect, you always earn respect. I learned a lot.”
