Florida State quarterback Jordan Travis could be the next Jalen Hurts, or something like that. Travis recently said he saw a lot of similarities between him and the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback.
Hurts led the Eagles to the Super Bowl last season and was the MVP runner-up to Patrick Mahomes. With huge improvements in his passing, Hurts was one of the best dual threat quarterbacks in the league with his sound decision making.
That’s how Travis sees himself going into the 2023 campaign, wanting to do it all on the field.
“I would say Jalen Hurts,” Travis said on Sirius XM ACC Radio. “I feel like his playing style, I mean, obviously, it’s different for sure. But I feel like he’s just an athlete. He makes plays with his feet when he has to and he makes all the throws he needs to.”
Hurts had the best season of his pro career in 2022 with 3,701 yards, 22 touchdowns, six interceptions, a 66.5% completion percentage, 760 rushing yards and 13 rushing touchdowns.
Including the playoffs, Hurts was 16-2 as a starter last year. If Travis can make jumps like Hurts, Florida State should be in great shape come this fall.
A Heisman candidate in 2023, Travis had his best season last year. He had 3,214 yards, 24 touchdowns, five interceptions and a 64% completion percentage while adding 417 rushing yards and seven touchdowns on the ground.

Jordan Travis to take a Jalen Hurts-type leap?
Florida State has quite the returning production this year. Travis elected to come back to school for some “unfinished business.”
“Obviously, you have to do what’s best for you at the end of the day. We talked a little bit. Jared [Verse] was probably the most secretive out of everybody,” Travis said. “We had unfinished business. We all came back. We have goals and expectations for the football team this year.”
Riding the momentum of head coach Mike Norvell‘s first 10-win season with the program, hopes are high for the Seminoles this season. Travis wants to deliver on those expectations and then some.
“We committed to Florida State University. When you commit to a school, you have to give your best and pray for the best for your future and the school,” Travis said. “Obviously, coming back was big for everything — recruiting, obviously.
“All of us coming back, it brings confidence back to this football team, a lot of experience. It’s in the back of your head, but at the end of the day, you got to do what’s best for you, and I feel like we all did what’s best for us.”
