Jordan Travis has goal to win national championship with Florida State, not Heisman Trophy
Jordan Travis has a preference when it comes to accolades at Florida State and within college football: a national championship.
Sure, a Heisman Trophy would be nice, as Travis is one of the popular picks this coming season. But he’d rather win every single game and deliver a title for the Seminoles.
That’s how he explained it on the Preferred Walk On Podcast.
“Yeah it’s a blessing for sure,” Travis said. “Being talked about, especially at that magnitude and how special that award is, it’s a blessing for sure. But like I said before man, I’m a guy that wants to win a national championship. I came here to win a national championship.
“I never said I’m coming here to win a Heisman. I care about winning the football games. After that, other things will come.”
Travis comes in with some credentials after a solid season in 2022. Last year, he threw for 3,214 yards, 24 touchdowns, five interceptions, a 64% completion percentage, had 417 rushing yards and seven touchdowns on the ground.

Head coach Mike Norvell didn’t hold back his praise of Travis in spring practice.
“He’s obviously got a great perspective,” Norvell said this spring. “As in real-time, you know, with everything firing at him. And I think just the confidence in what he sees is really impressive. There’s times that we have, what matters is what he sees. And I can see in a variety of different ways and there’s sometimes those open conversations of what we’re doing and how we can maybe have a tweak here or tweak there.
“But yeah, that’s the fun of this offense is there’s a lot of variations, a lot of things that ties to each quarterback and you know, I mean, I love where his eyes are. He sees it so very well.”
With Travis’ experience and confidence, there’s no telling what Florida State can accomplish. Plus, when it comes to a national championship, Travis can only think of that ultimate goal.
“But, you know, he also has that experience and confidence and if he thinks he can take it to another level in maybe the read or progression, those things I’m always gonna listen to,” Norvell said. “Especially this time of the year, maybe give a little freedom and explore some new things. You know, it’s definitely been fun.”
Travis holding up a national championship trophy? Maybe it’s not too far-fetched.
