Jordan Travis on Florida State's offense: 'We were disrespected all day'
On the heels of a 31-24 overtime win over Clemson, Seminoles quarterback Jordan Travis said he felt disrespected by the way the Tigers chose to defend the Florida State offense.
The coverage Clemson played afforded Florida State plenty of opportunities, and eventually FSU converted.
“I feel like we were disrespected all day,” Travis said after the game. “When you play one-on-one against Johnny Wilson and Keon Coleman I feel like you have no respect for either the receivers or the quarterback. I missed a lot of throws early on against one-on-ones, and I wish I could go back and complete them, but man we stepped up when we needed too.”
With its ground game held to just 22 yards rushing on the day, the Seminoles had to find a way to generate offense outside of that.
And Travis wasn’t his normal sharp self. He completed just 21-of-37 passes, though he eventually went for 289 yards and two touchdowns. It was his throw in the end zone to Coleman in overtime that put the Seminoles in front, a 24-yard dagger.

Clemson had been asking for it, Travis said.
“Keon made a big-time play. The offensive line gave me time,” he said. “It’s just a fade, one-on-one. I like my guy every single time.”
Florida State’s defense was able to hold on after Coleman’s big play, forcing Clemson off the field on downs to end the game. It was a huge win, one week after suffering a similar close call at Boston College.
But for Travis and the Florida State offense, having the patience to withstand a frustrating afternoon and still come away with the win says a lot.
“It just shows maturity. Things aren’t always going to go your way, but when it’s time to make a play you’ve got to make a play,” Travis said. “We did that as a football team. Our run game wasn’t going too much today, so that means that the passing game has to step up. I feel like early on we weren’t really getting the ball moving too much, just me missing throws. I was upset with a couple of throws I missed today, but we won the football game, we’re 4-0, so I’m thankful.”
