Jordan Travis did not waste any time returning to Florida State for one more season. The Seminoles quarterback announced his return Dec. 5 in a decision he said he was very relieving as he attention fully turned to Florida State’s bowl game.

“Yeah, it took a lot of weight off my shoulders,” Travis said. “I was thinking about it a lot. I just couldn’t wait to get it out there. I was trying really hard. I was trying to push it out there but I wanted to make the timing right. Yeah, I’m happy it’s out and happy to come back.”

Travis was draft eligible this coming spring but felt he could benefit from another year at Florida State.

“I honestly just felt I needed another year just to keep growing,” Travis said. “(I want to show what) I could do. I feel like I improved a lot this year. But yeah, I have had a lot of unfinished business. I keep saying that. (I want) to win every single game I play in a year, win a championship at the end of the day and keep growing every single day.”

Travis made his announcement just as the transfer portal floodgates opened. He said it was important to let recruits and transfers know where the Seminoles stood at the quarterback position.

“Yes, I wanted to get it out as soon as possible so everyone could see him coming back and I can go out and reach out to guys,” Travis said. “Yeah, it was important.”

Travis originally committed to Louisville in 2018 out of The Benjamin School in North Palm Beach, Florida. He was a three-star recruit and the No. 61 quarterback in the class according to On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average.

Travis spent just one season with the Cardinals before transferring to Tallahassee is 2019. He took over as the starter midway through the 2020 season, and entered 2021 as the Week 1 starter.

In 2022, Travis set career highs in both passing yards (2,796) and touchdowns (22), while also adding 367 yards rushing and seven more touchdowns. He also helped the Seminoles finish 9-3 in the regular season and earn a bid to the Cheez-It Bowl, where they’ll have a chance to reach 10 wins for the first time since 2016.

With Jordan Travis returning for the 2023 season, he’ll have one more opportunity to take the Seminoles to even greater heights and improve his NFL Draft stock in the process.
