Jordan Travis reveals how 2023 team represents culture change within Florida State
Jordan Travis has been at Florida State for some very high highs, and incredibly low lows. It’s been a process, but Travis has trusted head coach Mike Norvell.
Now, the Seminoles have an opportunity to win an ACC Championship game and head into the College Football Playoff for the first time in program history. With everything on the line for FSU on Saturday, Travis detailed how Norvell has shifted the program’s culture since he arrived on campus, and how it has translated to success.
“The change that Coach Norvell has made within this program is absolutely insane. The standard has changed for sure,” Travis said during an appearance on ESPN’s College GameDay. “I feel like that’s what we need in our program is a standard of how you do anything — it should be how you do everything. How you treat the janitor should be the same way how you treat the AD and the president of the school. I feel like that’s this team really, really represents that.
“We represent who Coach Norvell is as a person every single day. We always have smiles on our face. We’re blessed to wake up are blessed to represent Florida State University at the end of the day. It’s one of the best universities in the world. … We’re really focused on everything [Norvell] is doing and doing everything right.”
Nobody embodies that change like Travis, on and off the field. Not only is he the poster boy for the program — the star role model every team would kill to have — he’s also one of the best quarterbacks in the country.
If he didn’t get hurt, there would be no question whether FSU deserves one of the final spots left in the CFP race. Instead, Travis’ 97 touchdowns, 10,553 yards of total offense and 28 total wins as Norvell’s QB1 are cast to the side as another QB (who that is still remains to be seen) leads his their team into the ACC title game.

If Norvell’s culture is felt across the board, however, either Tate Rodemaker or Brock Glenn will embody that will with no issue.
As kickoff against Louisville approaches, Travis will be doing his part by keeping his head high, keeping his guys motivated and will be cheering his team on from the sidelines once it gets started. He also provided a tiny update on his status and where he’s at mentally heading into the ACC title game.
“I feel amazing. The good Lord woke me up this morning, so I have a smile on my face always. I’m just blessed. My family is here, my team is here, my coaches. We have the best fans in the world, so I’m just I’m grateful to be here, man.”
Kickoff between the Cardinals and Seminoles is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET live on ABC and streaming on FuboTV.
