Jordan Travis reveals the secret to how he developed chemistry with FSU's receivers
Florida State quarterback Jordan Travis is embarking on his fourth year with the Seminoles the fall, trying to lead FSU to a bowl game for the first time since 2019. And this year, the Florida State passing attack should be aided by increased chemistry between Travis and the receiving core.
When talking to reporters recently, Travis was asked how he built up a stronger rapport with his pass catchers. The best way to build that bond, Travis said, was just being together and getting reps in, something he and several wide receiver teammates did this offseason.
“I would say this past offseason, we worked really hard with the PrPs and all that type of thing,” Travis said. “The guys came out here every single day and worked hard. During the summer we ran those routes. Even the walkthroughs. Stuff like that. That’s where you build everything. You talk about how you want routes ran. Watching film. The guys have been doing great.”

Specifically, Travis singled out receivers Ontaria ‘Pokey’ Wilson, Malik McClain and Keyshawn Helton for praise. And for making his job as Florida State’s quarterback that much easier.
“It makes it pretty easy. You put the ball up there and they make plays,” Travis said. “I mean, all the receivers. Pokey’s been playing great. Malik’s been playing great. Keyshawn’s been playing great. All of our receivers have been coming here to work every single day. The receivers have the hardest job physically. They come out here and run the entire day. You could see ’em running all day long. I’m impressed with them, how they come at the end of practice and how they’re able to finish strong. I give kudos to them and we just got keep pushing and getting better.”
